Allen Satyajit Shaw, a seasoned artist, illustrator, designer, and animator, will present a 30-minute online talk on his 25-year journey of sketching daily lives. This presentation will offer a visual documentation of Shaw’s personal and professional growth, tracing his evolution from a small hamlet in Bihar to the vibrant cultural landscape of Berlin. Shaw will share a selection of his sketches, highlighting how these works capture everyday moments and stories that reflect the diverse environments and cultures he has encountered. He will discuss how his experiences across different regions have influenced his artistic style and perspective, and how his sketches serve as a visual diary that chronicles his life and artistic journey. The Oraon people, a Dravidian-speaking ethnolinguistic group of the Chhotanagpur Plateau, traditionally relied on forests and farms for rituals and livelihoods, but have transitioned to settled agriculture in recent times. They possess a rich cultural heritage of folk songs, dances, and tales, along with traditional musical instruments like the Mandar, Nagara, and Kartal. Both men and women participate in dances, performed at social events and festivals, including war dances, Karma dance, Khaddi or Sarhul dance, and various ceremonial dances known as "Dandi" in Kurukh.
