Sahebram Bediya

Sahebram Bediya is from the first batch of Green Hub Central India. He is from Ranchi district, Jharkhand. He is interested to document biodiversity and is a nature trail guide. Sahebram is the first person from his village to document elephants when they came back to the forest after several years.

Green Hub Fellows Sahebram Bediya and Sanjeev Marskole will present a screening and discussion of their film Jan Aur Jungle Jodne ki Pehal (An Initiative to Connect People and Forests). The film highlights the work of the Ekastha Foundation, an organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of forests and the people of Jharkhand. The documentary focuses on a pilot project in Koynardih, a village near Jonha Falls in the Ranchi District, where the foundation is promoting sustainable livelihoods through bamboo craft, mushroom cultivation, and eco-tourism.

Green Hub Fellows Sahebram Bediya and Narendra Pardhi will present a screening and discussion of their film documenting the return of a herd of elephants to the village of Pithoria in Jharkhand after a 17-year absence. This short film explores the rising human-elephant conflict in the region, set against a backdrop of mining, deforestation, and urban growth. The narrative delves into the challenges faced by both the elephants and the local communities as natural habitats shrink and human settlements expand.
