Cultural practitioner Sejal Rathwa will deliver a 30-minute presentation on the sacred ritualistic visual expression of Pithora paintings from the Rathwa community. Rathwa will explore Pithora's cultural and spiritual significance and its role as a sacred practice. She will address misconceptions and misappropriations of Pithora by artists and businesses outside the community. The presentation will highlight the traditional contexts and ceremonies associated with Pithora paintings. A 30-minute Q&A will follow, discussing cultural appropriation, safeguarding indigenous practices, and distinguishing between ritualistic and artistic expressions.
